 कांवर यात्रा  ( Kavad Yatra ) का इतिहास बहुत पुराना है। इसी मान्यता है कि जब समुद्र मंथन के दौरान विष पीने के बाद भगवान शिव का कंठ नीला पड़ गया था। इस भयंकर समस्या को हल करने के लिए भगवान शिव ने जलाभिषेक किया, जिससे उनको राहत मिली। इसीलिए उन्हें कांवर यात्रा  ( Kanwar Yatra ) के दौरान भगवान शिव का जलाभिषेक किया जाता है ताकि उनकी कृपा प्राप्त हो।

कैसे बनती है कांवड़ ( Kaise Banate hain Kanwar )

  • हरिद्वार में कई स्थानों पर कांवड़ तैयार किया जाता है।
  • कांवड़ बनाने के लिए बांस, फेविकोल, कपड़े, डमरू, फूल-माला, घुंघरू, मंदिर, लोहे का बारीक तार, और मजबूत धागे का उपयोग किया जाता है।
  • कांवड़ तैयार होने के बाद उसे फूल-माला, घंटी, और घुंघरू से सजाया जाता है।
  • इसके बाद, गंगाजल का भार पिटारियों में भरकर, धूप और दीप जलाकर, भोले के जयकारों और भजनों के साथ, कांवड़ यात्री जल भरने आते हैं और भगवान शिव को प्रसन्न करते हैं।

कांवड़ यात्रियों  के लिए नियम  ( Kawad Yaatriyoo Ke liye Niyaam )

  • कांवड़ यात्री बिना नहाए नहीं चल सकते।
  • तेल, साबुन, और कंघी का उपयोग नहीं करते।
  • सभी कांवड़ यात्री एक-दूसरे को भोला या भोली कहकर बुलाते हैं।
  • ध्यान देना होता है कि कांवड़ जमीन से संपर्क न करें।
  • डाक कांवर यात्रा में शरीर से उत्सर्जन की क्रियाएं वर्जित होती हैं।

सामान्य कांवड़ : यह यात्री विशेष स्थानों पर ठहरकर आराम कर सकते हैं, लेकिन यह ध्यान देने लायक है कि वे जमीन से संपर्क में न रहें। इसके दौरान, कांवड़ स्टैंड पर रखा जाता है।

डाक कांवड़ : इसमें यात्री शिव के जलाभिषेक तक बिना रुके लगातार चलते रहते हैं। यहाँ तक कि शरीर से उत्सर्जन की क्रियाएं भी वर्जित होती हैं।
